Better late than never?

My weekend wrap-up, that is.

Our weeks have gotten so insanely busy that I sort of hibernate all weekend long and don't do anything super spectacular, but they are awesome just the same. Well...except for when people ask me about them...then I feel sort of lame. But in a cool, mom way, of course. ;) So without further adeiu, here's a snapshot of of my boring/amazing couple of days...

D had a nice, long four day weekend and since he can't sit still, he washed both our cars inside and out and we decided to turn around G's carseat! Don't call CPS on us please. She well exceeds the height and weight limits and now her poor (LONG) legs aren't bent up against the back of the seat. No, now she bends them on her own, while facing forward.

On Friday night we had a cookout and invited over D's cadet that has been assigned to his platoon for the past couple of weeks. He is in the ROTC program at his college and part of his summer training involved coming to a unit and shadowing a platoon leader. D likes to refer to him as "his legacy"! Ha. We've had cadets come through before, but this one was the most normal, down to earth of the bunch. It was fun having him over when they weren't in the field. We did kabobs with steak and veggies over a cous cous and feta salad and of course I have no pictures to show...but it was good enough that we will definitely be repeating in the future.

On Saturday morning I made it to 8am spin class where I promptly got my butt kicked. After G's morning nap we ran part of our weekend errands up in Alexandria where we hit the mall for some big girl, almost walking, shoes for Grace and lunch at Chic-fil-a. D is obsessed with Chic-fil-a and will literally come up with reasons to drive 45+ minutes away to get some. He also wants to open his own franchise one day (read: not happening), if that gives you any idea of how deep his love for the fast food joint runs. :) We also made our way to Target, Best Buy, PetSmart, and Sam's Club.

Geez. We really are getting old and boring. BUT - we are in the market to "pimp our ride" -aka- get a portable DVD player for the car now that Grace is forward facing. That should bump up our cool factor right?!

My next exciting weekend event will take it back down a notch. :) My new planner was on the doorstep when we arrived home from our shopping trip! Ever since I started working more days at home, I realized I was missing the large, desk sized calendar at the office. I also love lists and the theory that I can be organized, so I treated myself to this pretty:

...which is from momagenda.com ::crickets chirping:: I SWEAR it is really cool. Plus I got the MyAgenda version instead of the mom one! Don't worry, I'll discuss my agenda in greater detail later, but for now I'll finish the wrap up. ;)

Sunday we started the day off right with a pancake breakfast and did our weekly grocery run. After getting things organized from that trip and an afternoon nap for Grace we ran out to Starbucks and the PX. We wanted to price check some more portable DVD players and really just wanted another excuse to get out of the house. My Green Tea Frap (looks weird, tastes SO good) was made with whip on top and I let Grace taste some off of my straw. Big mistake. I created a whip cream loving monster who would shout out, "Ma ma!" and attempt to swipe my drink if I didn't deliver fast enough. Guess we are easing her into dairy....

I ended my weekend with a glass of Cupcake Chardonnay and the MTV Music Video Awards in bed with the pups, my laptop, and new AGENDA! (I told you I wasn't done talking about it...)

Question: Was anyone else as excited as I was that Beyonce is pregnant!? And did anyone else giggle like a school girl when they cut to Kanye and Jay-Z at the end of her performance and they were giving each other what I fondly call a "bro-hug"? It was adorable.

No. The dogs are not allowed on the bed.

Yes. My agenda is allowed in the bed. :)

And yes, work in bed is highly discouraged, but when you have wine, the Video Music Awards, puppies and an agenda, sometimes it gets done.

To end my weekend on an even brighter note, another one of my besties started her own blog! It's about a single girl living and working in NJ/NY and I'm so excited to start following her on her adventures. For all of my other friends reading this and not yet on the blog-train - do it! It is such an easy and fun way to keep up with people you know and honestly, I really love some of the blogs I read from people I don't know. I keep up with more people who have kids in Grace's age group on blogs than we know in real-life. I get new recipe ideas, decorating inspiration, and even outfit advice....I'll step off my soapbox now!

Hope everyone's weeks are off to a wonderful start. :)

Meet our new friend

Meet our new friend. No...not that "friend". Look closer...

This is Moxie the Moo Cow and she is the newest addition to our family.

Moxie came into our lives unexpectedly over the weekend while Grace and I were out running errands. Really important errands, like shopping for a 1st birthday outfit. There she was, among beautiful, brightly colored sock monkeys...a diamond in the rough. Grace saw her right away and said hello by giving her a big, sloppy, open-mouthed kiss. It was love at first sight.

But we weren't looking to bring home any new additions that didn't involve party attire, so after I looked around to make sure no one was watching my child drool all over the merchandise, we prepared to say goodbye to our new found friend. We did our "bye-bye" wave and everything...

and then fate stepped in...

and Grace vomited all over Moxie's face.

The kind of mess you can't just wave bye-bye and walk away from. So we hightailed in to the bathroom to clean Moxie and headed to the register.

We later discovered Moxie opens up like a pillow. She's so full of surprises.

Welcome to the family.

(I'd insert a joke about greener pastures here, but once you've been puked on, is there really anywhere to go but up?)

Photog FAIL

I've had a really hard time getting a good picture of the little Miss lately. I used to be able to say "cheese!" in a goofy voice and get her to give me a huge grin...now, I'm lucky if she even looks my way when I have the camera out.

Case and point:

D and I thought it would be funny to put a bow from a gift on her head. Grace did not mind at all, but obviously would rather play with a laundry basket than interact with her parents. Are we already that embarrassing? Answer: Probably.

Still ignoring.

Haha! Here I have her trapped in her highchair, forced to look at me. Suddenly my camera decides to take a series of really terrible pictures. The lighting in our house is terribleeeee.

That gave me the idea to go outside. So yesterday, while Grace was still home from school waiting for the 24 hour daycare ban to lift from being sent home the day before (don't get me started), we took a couple pics in the backyard. Yeah. It was way too bright. I know the best time of day to take pics is before the sun is fully up and early evening, while it is setting. We didn't take advantage of that advice...

Mid-clap. Squinting eyes. Probably getting sunburned. Mom FAIL.

100% over it.

NAKED!!!
Fresh outta the bath with wet hair...running away from me before I can get a diaper on her or towel dry her luscious locks. :)

So that's where we are on the picture taking lately. Pretty pathetic. BUT- I have weekend plans to try a few things, so hang around and I might have some things worth sharing next week! We are in full-on party planning mode and things have gotten a lot more fun. I have some things that I'm trying to pull together this weekend and I'll have a post on how everything is coming along here soon.

Have a great weekend...

Faking Fall

Last weekend we picked up this new candle while out on our errands...

I lit it one evening this week and got into a Fall state of mind. Grace was asleep, D was still at work, and I dimmed the lights, poured a glass of pinot noir and relaxed like it was my job. There's something about Fall that makes me want to slow down and enjoy the season. Or just the fake Fall evening, in my case.

The next morning, which was yesterday, I decided to make these Fall inspired muffins:

I'd been dying to bake something using whole wheat flour. Random, right? Anyways, these are zucchini muffins that I got all "Fall" on by adding walnuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and substituting applesauce instead of vegetable oil. I added oats on top too. Cute, right? Healthy too! These puppies are only 100 calories a muffin, which is not too shabby. I'm going to hold out on sharing the recipe with you all though...I don't think it's been perfected yet and I think I can get them tasting even more yummy next time. I think I'll do a second trial run this weekend and see what I can come up with. :)

Why do I use my iPhone for everything? I just uploaded some pictures from our nice camera (which I plan on sharing later today), and it really isn't that difficult to get them taken and onto the computer. When I share the Zucchini Muffin recipe I'll take some new pretties to go along with it, okay?

To wrap up my fake Fall, I threw some chicken in the crockpot for dinner. I plan on using the crockpot at least 3-4 times a week as soon as it gets cooler out. When I shared this thought with D a few weeks ago, he stuck up his nose and made a sarcastic remark about eating stew every night. I hadn't even been thinking about stew, but his comment got me even more excited about crockpotting (my new word).

Last night's chicken recipe has always been well received in our house and it is too easy not to share.

Here's the deal:

Easy Crockpot Chicken

Ingredients:
-1 Pkg chicken breasts
-Can of salsa
-Can of corn
-Can of black beans
-1 pkg cream cheese
Optional - Shredded cheese, sour cream, torillas, rice, various toppings

Directions:
-Throw chicken into crockpot
-Top with canned salsa, can of corn (drained), and can of black beans (rinsed)
-Cook on low for 6+ hours or high for about 4
-Shred chicken (I just use two forks and leave it in the crockpot to do this. It literally falls apart.)
-Throw in a brick of cream cheese on low about 30 mins before you plan to eat
-Stir (it looks pretty gross) and serve on top of rice topped with cheese and sour cream to mask the ugliness OR serve in tortillas with your fave toppings. We do the tortilla thing around here...there are always extras left over from Taco Tuesday.

Enjoy! :)

P.S. If anyone has any good stew recipes, send them my way. Muahaha...

My Brown Eyed Girl

I know I'm not harboring any sort of secret talent when it comes to taking pictures. I mean, I own a pretty nice little camera and I often use my crappy iPhone to take a photo instead. It intimidates me just a little bit! But when I saw this photo challenge from The Paper Mama, I immediately thought of a picture I have of Grace that draws me right in to her big brown eyes.

The Paper Mama

I'm not looking to win anything or show off my mad skills (ha.ha.ha.), I'm just always up for the opportunity for flaunt my girl. :) That is all.

Workout/Weekend Wrap-Up

Last Week's Workout Schedule:

Monday
- 10k, Ab work
Tuesday - Spin Class, 2 mile run
Wednesday - 5k, arms/back FAIL
Thursday - Spin Class, 2 mile run and added in a quick 1000 meter swim at lunch!
Friday - 1200 meter pool workout, Ab work
Saturday - Spin Class, legs FAIL
Sunday - OFF :)

The verdict: While having a thought out schedule really helped with my motivation...life got in the way. This actually did a great job of showing me that Wednesday's (when I drive 2+ hours round trip for work) would be a much better day off than Sunday. After working all day and sitting in the car, the last thing I wanted to do was workout. Usually I push through it, but since D is STILL unable to pick up Grace from daycare, I really didn't have time anyways. Until he is back on pick-up duty, I'm going to cut myself some slack.

This weekend D had to work a few hours each morning and that knocked out the possibility of spin class on Saturday...and then instead of getting something in later, we spent some great family time together in the afternoon. Scoping out a new Mexi restaurant and Frozen Yogurt joint was well worth missing a workout.

P.S. The Fro-Yo place is called Spoons. How cute is that?!?!

Some random weekend iPhone pics:

Oh hey, I'm just standing. No big deal.
Nothing to see here...especially not the dirty PB rug that Major chewed a hole in. Pretty sure that's a rogue Cheerio on the floor. I'm sure it was promptly eaten too (hopefully by a dog)...

Check out the phone on the ottoman. That belongs to G, who holds it up
to her ear and chats with her buddies regularly. What a social butterfly.

Even though I'm a big, bad standing machine, I still take time to hug my pals. Mostly Molly.
That Major guy is a major pain in the you-know-where.

On Sunday I woke up feeling less than stellar thanks to a certain monthly treat. HOLY cramps. After joining Grace for her mid-morning nap, we hightailed it to Starbucks where I chugged a Skinny Vanilla Latte (hold the foam), and we split a ginormo chocolate cookie. Grace proceeded to climb up the back of one of the cozy Starbs chairs and wave/smack the window at unsuspecting people passing by. I thought it was hilarious. The employees who had to clean off her finger prints later that day probably did not. But if feeding my (almost) 11 month old chocolate and giggling together is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

She was too giddy to look at me and cheese for a picture. I'll let it slide. :)

G is smack dab in the midst of cutting her 1 year molars, and those suckers are really getting her good. She cut another tooth on the bottom a week or so ago, bringing our total tooth count up to 7. 4 on the top, three on the bottom. It looks like the other side on the bottom is making its way in too. This all brought on a 12:45 am wake-up call that included screaming and then whimpering until almost 3 am. Nothing a little Tylenol and a midnight bottle couldn't fix- but ouch...being little is rough!
___________________________________________________________

This Week's Workout Schedule:

Monday
- 10k, abs
Tuesday - 4 mile am run, 1200 meter swim
Wednesday - OFF :)
Thursday - Spin Class, 2 mile run
Friday - 1200 meter swim
Saturday - 5k jog with G
Sunday
- 5k jog with G

This week things are already getting a little crazy. We have an Army obligation Tuesday night and then D goes out to the field for several days starting Wednesday. That means we have a girls weekend coming up! I'm going to try to get outside with the jogging stroller as early as we can manage to beat the heat and get something in. I'll have to plan other activities for us as well. Weekends without daddy can get a little boring around here. I'm thinking a pedi and pool date will have to fit their way into our lives.

Hope everyone's week is off to a great start! What kind of workout plans do you all have for the week?

Also - I need to make a side dish for tomorrow night. Any tried and trusted recipe ideas?

H

Check me out!

Hello?! Did you even recognize me today? I wouldn't be surprised given the big changes around these parts.

(And for those of you in Reader, we're talking about the blog...)

A big thanks goes out to Dara. She worked her magic...in literally a couple of days...and totally transformed my little space on the interweb. She just started her own blog about design, so go check her out and you can see some of the alternate headers she came up with for me!

We have a lot of changes coming up in the next few months between our baby turning 1 and a big move (post about this to come), so I figured that the blog could use a little sprucing up as well. :)

What do you think about our new look?!

A mid-week somethin' somethin'

Check out my big girl showing off her sitting skills at daycare yesterday morning:

Note to self- need more posed pictures where she can't crawl away or towards the camera. I can't tell you how many blurry pictures we've taken lately. What a little mover and shaker... :)

Why I run...

Ok, I know it's only Tuesday and celebration is a little premature, but looky here:

Yesterday I got in my 10K (and then walked it out till I hit 6.5 miles)! I give credit to the accountability system. All day I knew that come 4:30pm, I was high tailing it to the gym to run. As the miles passed, I had no problem pushing myself, upping my intensity to reach a goal. Mine was to run a 10K in 55 minutes or less...I figured that would be a good starting point. Well ladies- I did exactly that! I may have had to up my speed to under 8 minutes miles at the end, but I hit that goal right on the nose. Booya.

Today I'm looking forward to a light 2 mile jog before spin at 5. It will feel great after yesterday.

In other yesterday news, I made homemade meatballs and they turned out really good. They were also the easiest thing I've ever done. I made them at lunch time and just threw spaghetti together for dinner. Here's the recipe:

Meatballs:

1 lb ground beef
~1 cup bread crumbs (I used italian style and did slightly less than a cup)
1 egg (beaten)
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped (I eyeballed this)
1 tsp. parsley
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Milk - I just eyed it to give the mixture a nice consistency

Mix ingredients, or be like me and just throw all this stuff in the KichenAid and let it work its magic. Here's where things get exciting. Using a cookie dough scoop or just your hands, form into balls.

Lightly grease a 9 x 13 oven safe dish and put them in there. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes. Then let cool and rinse under hot water. This apparently gets rid of grease. At this point I let mine sit in the fridge all day and then pulled them out right before dinner and let them simmer with my canned spaghetti sauce, because that's how we roll around these parts. Add some pasta, a heap of parmigiana and enjoy!

We had leftovers for lunch today and guess what? They were even better after spending some more time in the sauce and letting the flavors meld together. I can't stress enough how easy this was.

And of course I don't have pictures because lets be real, they did not look very pretty. What they lacked in looks they made up for in taste. I was eating them cold out of the fridge at 10 am this morning. True story. (Hmm...maybe I'll be running an extra mile today?)

Also true story, although they were SO good, I will not be making spaghetti until Fall...because at 6 pm, when it's still 100 degrees outside, eating hot spaghetti and sweating- no matter how good it is- is a no go around these parts.

Hope everyone's weeks are going well! I swear I have pictures of Grace to share, but my camera is hogging them and not sharing with the computer. I'll be posting soon (hopefully)!

H

Accountability

Prior to our mid-July vacay, I was a workout fiend and it was awesome. I was kicking booty at the gym, sucking up runs outside in the Summer heat, and even eating well. No cheats. I lost those last pesky baby pounds and then a few more on top of that. I was thrilled.

Then came our trip...we indulged to say the least, and instead of hitting up the gym, we got in our exercise walking practically EVERYWHERE. I had to take Advil in the mornings. It was serious stuff.

We got back from our trip, got back into our weekly routines, and though I've continued to workout, the intensity has definitely gone way down. Last week on Sunday night...the night before Monday, August 1st...I decided to be like New Year's resolutioner's and start fresh. Monday I got in a 10K (6.2 miles) at the gym and was off to a great start. Tuesday's spin class was just as exciting. And then the week trailed off...G was home from daycare on Wednesday (if you remember our ER trip in the previous post), Thursday we had an Army dinner right after work, and Friday we decided to grab pizza and beer to celebrate a kick-ass work week being over and my end of year assessment being sent in right at the close of business deadline that afternoon (can you believe it is already almost the end of the fiscal year?!). I got in spin on Saturday and plan to do a video at home today, but tomorrow is another week, another chance to start fresh and feel accomplished next Sunday. I plan on rocking it.

In the name of accountability, I've planned out my workout sched, and will post what actually happens in a week. Here she is:

Monday - 10k, Ab work
Tuesday - Spin Class, 2 mile run
Wednesday - 5k, arms/back
Thursday - Spin Class, 2 mile run
Friday - 1200 meter pool workout, Ab work
Saturday - Spin Class, legs
Sunday - OFF :)

Yes, I take my day off on the weekend when I have a full day to get something done. For whatever reason, the more free time I have, the less likely I am to get a workout in. If I'm busy and have to just get in gear and do it, no problem. Weird? Maybe. Also, Friday's pool workout is done on my lunch break and is an easy way to get in a workout on Friday when I know I'm going to want to relax as soon as I'm off for the day.

We'll see how this works for the week and go from there. Also, I'm in the process of getting information about a running group in the area that is training for a half-marathon in November! I was pumped to find out that such a thing existed here...I've had the hardest time finding planned races in our area and a running group might be just what I need to mix things up and get in longer runs. I hope to find out more about that soon!

Hope everyone has a great week...I'm off to wake up my stellar nap taker and run out for Cherry-Limeades and Season 6 of Entourage. Obsessed, I tell you. :)

H

End of Week Wrap-Up

Happy Friday!

This week has been busssayyyy...with lots going on at work, Grace going to the ER (not an emergency, don't worry) on Tuesday night, an Army function last night, and just to top it all off I was viciously attacked by an ant colony yesterday. That's what I get for bragging about my license photo right? Two sandals full of ants.

First the ER trip- G got "released" from daycare for the 3rd week in a row with a form that had to be signed by a doctor before she could go back. Last week it was for a slight fever while she was teething. The week before it was diaper rash. Sh*ts getting a little ridiculous. Anyways, after finding out there were no available appointments the next day, we all got into comfy clothes after dinner on Tuesday night and trekked up to the hospital to get her seen that evening. Long story short, she had a slight ear infection in one ear that was causing some eye goo in one of her eyes. Contagious? No. Gross? Yes. We were on our way in less than an hour and a half and celebrated with Cherry Limeades from Sonic.

Army stuff - Last night we had a Hail and Farewell dinner at a local restaurant. They usually occur about once a month. It was great to get out and see people...we have some really wonderful families in our unit and don't get together often enough! D is officially back to work, still in his sling, but my "house-husband" (got this term from a friend awhile back- LOVE it!) is no more...which means my daily errand/maid service is over as well. Damn.

Getting attacked by ants - Has this happened to anyone else?! Never have I seen ants as vicious as those in Louisiana. They are everywhere and they are mean. By the time you realize they are biting, often you will already have half the colony on you and they are hard to get off while hopping on one foot in pain. Last night when I was loading Grace into the car, I discovered we had parked on top of a huge ant hill. I literally have bite marks all over my feet- even between toes (eww)...not fun.

This week I made these for dinner on Wednesday:

White Chicken Enchiladas. They were easy to make, but turned out a little bland. For those of you cooking wizards out there, let me know if you have a better recipe or can figure out how to give this one a kick!

Here's to a relaxing weekend and hoping that next week is not quite so eventful. :)

License Trouble Update...

Remember on Friday, when I got my car searched and then almost went to jail for an expired license?! (Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating...just slightly.)

Jailhouse Photo.

Well, after spending all weekend getting heckled by the hubs that I would be arrested on the spot the next time I tried to go on post, I got a new license.

In Virginia, you can't smile for your photo, it is in black and white and maybe it was just my license, but they have it really awkwardly close up to your face...so I looked about 300 lbs and not like the kind of girl you'd want to meet in a dark alley.

Well hello, Louisiana! You can smile, you can see your neckline in the photo, it is shot in color...it was practically like getting a Glamor Shot done! Seriously. Best license pic ever. I'm sending in my $25 fine and including a thank you note and plate of cookies.

This week is looking up. ;)

H

Online shopping...my biggest vice.

Hi, August. Can it be Fall already? Please?! See, I'm already craving Pumpkin Spice Lattes, the smell of burning leaves in the air, hearty stews in the crockpot, and a new wardrobe...since last Fall I had just given birth and decided to rock leggings until they literally fell apart. Not a joke.

This year I envision luxe leather flats with a pair of skinny denim crops, topped off with a silky shell and cozy cardi. Mmm. Or maybe some pretty boots over jeans instead? Lust.

Since we still have another few months till it starts cooling down, I figure I can get through the rest of the Summer by getting ready for next season. Here are some things I'm dying to purchase right now...

These Sam Edelman flats are too cute...check out the studs/spikes on the toe to balance out the feminine bow. Nordstrom carries a few other color combos too.

Or these. Leopard, peep toe, and a bow?! Get. In. My. Closet.

These are by Report...at both Nords and Zappos. These light pink babies would look super cute with a cozy gray sweater. Love baby pink/gray anytime of year. Am I going overboard on flats with bows? Let's shift gears...

These will be mine. By Steve Madden and the price is not bad either! Love this neutral color that can really go with everything. The heel is great also. Just right.

Now don't even get me started on little girl clothes! Is it me, or are there so many cute things out right now for Grace that I wish were in my size?

Check out these little Gap dresses. Gap Kids and Baby Gap have so many cute Fall outfits in right now...and are having incentives of 30-40% off just about each week. I am already planning out our trip back to VA and family pictures based on some of the their stuff.

This jacket? From Crewcuts (J.Crew's kid store). I haven't bought it...nor do I think it's practical to spend $70 on a coat Grace will wear one season- but c'mon J.Crew- make this in MY size. It could last for years and I could totally justify the price tag. Puh-leaseeee????

I'm wiping up my drool and getting back to work...but anyone else have any fun Fall finds or trends you just can't wait to break out in the next couple of months?

Just my luck

Our weekend got off to quite the start Friday afternoon as I was driving on post to pick up Grace on my way home from work in Alexandria. To get on post, you drive through a big gate, get your I.D. scanned by a gate guard, and generally just get on your way. Not Friday.

I was selected for a "random vehicle check"- which seems to happen to me more often than what I would consider random, but truthfully, it's no big deal. You break out your license, registration, proof of insurance, sometimes have to open the hood, trunk, and car doors, but you get moving pretty quickly. On Friday I was in for a surprise.

My insurance papers that we always keep in the console on the dashboard? Not there.

My license? Oh, apparently it expired...and the cop who pulled me over a few months back (oops) and told me it was fine because I have a military ID? Incorrect. See, Virginia makes you come in, in person, to renew your license if it has expired and since we are not heading back home for another couple of months, I thought I was good to go as long as I had my military ID on me as well.

Not the case.

I got to sit at the gate, pulled over to the side, and watch other cars come in and go out for 40 minutes, while the gate guards called an MP (military police officer) to come cite me with a ticket. I was fuming and embarrassed. But you know what makes it worse? I got upset...like tears upset...you know, the kind where a young MP had to say, "Ma'am, please calm down, it's really not that big of a deal." I cried ugly crocodile tears...apparently the only kind I can cry. It was miserable. I just sat there thinking about Grace sitting at daycare and D, not able to get her because he still literally can't pick her up with his shoulder out of commission and felt so helpless. I tried to will myself not to cry, but I am not one of those people that can hold it back when I'm upset. I used to blame it on pregnancy hormones. Now? I don't even have an excuse.

Finally, I was told I could either have someone drive my husband to come pick me and the car up (on the total opposite side of post, which would have taken him about 20 minutes) or they could just give me a ticket and send me on my way. I opted for ticket. $25 fine? Whatever. I just wanted to get the heck out of there. In the meantime, D did have to pick up Grace and have someone bring her out to his car and put her in her car seat. We met at home, he was given strict orders not to say anything resembling an "I told you so" about the license ordeal and we immediately got back in the car to get some large margaritas at my go-to Mexican spot.

Margs helped me calm down, but the embarrassment...still stings. Ugh.

The rest of the weekend was not quite as exciting...thank goodness. We just hung out around the house, watched a lot of Entourage (we started from Season 1 after D's surgery and are sort of obsessed), cleaned house, and made our grocery run for the week.

Now it's Monday...and by tomorrow you will be able to officially see my new Louisiana license if you run into me at a random traffic stop or pull me over. Plus side? Maybe I won't look like a convict in my new license photo?

There's always that silver lining.

H
