Prior to our mid-July vacay, I was a workout fiend and it was awesome. I was kicking booty at the gym, sucking up runs outside in the Summer heat, and even eating well. No cheats. I lost those last pesky baby pounds and then a few more on top of that. I was thrilled.
Then came our trip...we indulged to say the least, and instead of hitting up the gym, we got in our exercise walking practically EVERYWHERE. I had to take Advil in the mornings. It was serious stuff.
We got back from our trip, got back into our weekly routines, and though I've continued to workout, the intensity has definitely gone way down. Last week on Sunday night...the night before Monday, August 1st...I decided to be like New Year's resolutioner's and start fresh. Monday I got in a 10K (6.2 miles) at the gym and was off to a great start. Tuesday's spin class was just as exciting. And then the week trailed off...G was home from daycare on Wednesday (if you remember our ER trip in the previous post), Thursday we had an Army dinner right after work, and Friday we decided to grab pizza and beer to celebrate a kick-ass work week being over and my end of year assessment being sent in right at the close of business deadline that afternoon (can you believe it is already almost the end of the fiscal year?!). I got in spin on Saturday and plan to do a video at home today, but tomorrow is another week, another chance to start fresh and feel accomplished next Sunday. I plan on rocking it.
In the name of accountability, I've planned out my workout sched, and will post what actually happens in a week. Here she is:
Monday - 10k, Ab work
Tuesday - Spin Class, 2 mile run
Wednesday - 5k, arms/back
Thursday - Spin Class, 2 mile run
Friday - 1200 meter pool workout, Ab work
Saturday - Spin Class, legs
Sunday - OFF :)
Yes, I take my day off on the weekend when I have a full day to get something done. For whatever reason, the more free time I have, the less likely I am to get a workout in. If I'm busy and have to just get in gear and do it, no problem. Weird? Maybe. Also, Friday's pool workout is done on my lunch break and is an easy way to get in a workout on Friday when I know I'm going to want to relax as soon as I'm off for the day.
We'll see how this works for the week and go from there. Also, I'm in the process of getting information about a running group in the area that is training for a half-marathon in November! I was pumped to find out that such a thing existed here...I've had the hardest time finding planned races in our area and a running group might be just what I need to mix things up and get in longer runs. I hope to find out more about that soon!
Hope everyone has a great week...I'm off to wake up my stellar nap taker and run out for Cherry-Limeades and Season 6 of Entourage. Obsessed, I tell you. :)
xo,
H
