Chatting with Grace

Random dinner convos...again Nemo is involved. Also, note that my kid is on a hair strike and yells, "Mama don't hurt me!" if I try to fix, brush, or put anything in her wild mane. This is especially fun in public.

39 Weeks

March 13 - 19

Well here we are, on March 20th. I'm 40 weeks today and as you can imagine based on my past posts, super shocked that I'm posting an update and not busy with a baby. This week has been good, but generally uneventful. Lots of walking, lots of errand running and just staying prepped. Grace is settling into the routine of having someone other than just her and I around and we are getting into a grove. My mom has officially been here a week and a half and is scheduled to leave next Friday, so the sooner Charlie is born, the better.

Speaking of C's arrival, I had my 40 week appointment yesterday and had another membrane sweep. I'll get crampy for a little bit, have contractions here and there, but then not really have much else going on. I go back Friday if Charlie doesn't decide to come before then for another check and sweep, and then again on Monday morning to hopefully confirm an induction that evening. Basically if things go according to plan, the latest she should arrive is next Tuesday.

Survey says...

How far along?:
39 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  -.5 from last week. +34 overall. Hopefully that's about it.

Maternity clothes?: Same stuff. Ready to pack it up!

Sleep: Not bad at all.

Best moment of the week:  I don't know if I have a best moment. I'm just generally on edge and trying to relax and not obsess over when things will start to happen.

Movement:  Yup. Still big, strong movements. Lots of crazy belly movement too.

Food Cravings: Meh. Nothing really. I did eat 3 pieces of pineapple upside down cake in less than 24 hours and it was out of this world.

Gender: Girl

Belly Button: Out as far as it will go. Stretched really thin.

Stretchmarks?: I have 3 above my belly button ring hole. They are light, but I basically have no more room to stretch at this point and am not shocked that I have a few.

What I miss: Not getting tired from lugging a 30lb bowling ball around all day. Not having pelvic pain that makes me wince. Not complaining. ;)

What I am looking forward to: Getting this baby out of my body. Getting into a new routine.

Weekly Wisdom: Don't plan anything unless you have a Doctor that will let you go that route. I put so much faith on the fact that Grace was early and figure God is just laughing at me right now.

Milestones: DUE DATE.

Grace's space: She's been super fussy and bossy lately. It's really fun. (Not.) She for sure knows the baby is coming and is generally okay about that, she's just dealing with change. Speaking of Grace things, she will officially be 2.5 tomorrow! Wouldn't it be fun to have both girl's b-days on the 21st?! (Hint-hint, Charlie.)

38 Weeks

March 6 - 12

Late this week again, as I am officially in my 39th week today. I honestly didn't think I'd still be carrying this baby and having never gotten this far into a pregnancy I have a new appreciation for going the full 40+ weeks. My body is getting tired. I can't imagine how much heavier and uncomfortable I will be at this time next week. That being said...it's not terrible. I mean, I'm ready for this baby to come out, but I'm not completely dying yet. I can get around just fine and still manage to haul my kid around, too.

Operation Eviction is in full swing. Yesterday at my 39 week appointment I had my membranes swept. I saw some evidence of things moving along last night (you're welcome for not including a gross description)...and had some contractions, but really nothing crazy. I also booked a pre-natal massage and specifically had her target all of the labor inducing pressure points that they generally do not work on. I'm taking evening primrose oil. I bought pineapple. We had eggplant parm for dinner last night. We walk. You name it -- aside from good 'ol marital relations -- I'm doing it.

My mom decided to come early and arrived Sunday afternoon, so at this point she is settled in, Grace is on cloud 9, and I'd like Charlie to come sooner rather than later so I have my mom here to help as many days as possible. As of now, she's still here for another 2+ weeks, so hopefully Char will decide to come play by this weekend and we can start adjusting at home.

Survey says...

How far along?:
38 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  Umm...yesterday the scale said I was up +3.5 lbs. So it either hates me, I'm retaining fluid, or I overdid it on the pancakes. All possibilities.

Maternity clothes?: Same as usual. Today no, generally yes.

Sleep: Not too bad! Waking once or twice to pee, but sleeping pretty soundly. Still feeling tired when my alarm goes off at 6:30. We've been late to school pretty much all week. Thanks, Daylight Savings. (I actually love the time change though.)

Best moment of the week:  Mom arriving! So relieved to have her here. Now I just need to wrap up my midyear eval for work so I can really start relaxing.

Movement:  OUCH!

Food Cravings: Nothing really. I had my pancakes, they hit the spot. I feel like I'm trying to be bad last minute and eat things that I will be banning immediately upon Charlie's arrival.

Gender: Girl

Belly Button: My poor, poor belly button. That is all.

Stretchmarks?: Def have one over my belly button still. Hope it fades eventually.

What I miss: My back not hurting, not being slow, running fast(er), D being home, a glass of wine.

What I am looking forward to: All of the above, plus having a little lady to snuggle! I can't wait to see what she looks like and get to know her. :)

Weekly Wisdom: Relax! Easier said than done...

Milestones: 39 weeks. 7 days and counting...

Grace's space: Grace is getting very possessive this week. Catch phrase: "That mines?" I can't even tell you how many times a day we hear that. She doesn't necessarily mean it in a mean way, I think with all of the baby stuff showing up, she's just trying to figure out what's what. Although, my mom was driving the car yesterday and she was quick to let her know I was supposed to be driving. Rude. ;)

Randoms

  • Still pregnant, although there were portions of yesterday and last night that I wasn't so sure how much longer I'd be saying that.

  • Would you judge me if I went out and bought wine in preparation for being able to drink again?

Target wine cubes are my jam.

  • Grace decided to sleep in her big girl bed last night. She made it until midnight and then woke up and ended up sleeping with me. I've been too tired to fight any wake ups since she's been sick and really need to get out of the habit of letting her come into our bed. I do appreciate the snuggles and waking up next to a cute bedhead though. :)

  • Last solo weekend for 5 weeks. Trying to keep busy while also having a relaxing couple of days. I haven't forgotten about the pancakes I mentioned in my 37 week post...they will be mine.

  • Cleaning sucks. That is all.

  • If anyone has a magic solution to dog hair, aside from shaving both dogs hairless (which I've considered, if not just for the comedic value), please share.

  • My wedding rings still fit and will for the rest of this pregnancy. Holler.

  • Grace has another picture day at school next week. Gotta get on outfit planning, but the weather has been so back and forth here!

  • G has also officially been bumped up a shoe size and got some new pretties in this week! (How bad do you feel as a parent when your kid goes, "Mama, my feet hurt!" when you attempt to get her shoes on in the morning. Whoops.)

Coincidentally she chose an old, small pair to wear today...

  • Some days I can't imagine this being my last pregnancy and others it makes me extremely happy to think about never being pregnant again. Can't wait to see the number my hormones do on this thought in a few weeks.

  • Last pregnancy related thing, since many of you have asked: We won't know if D is able to come home for leave until after Charlie's arrival. Right now we are planning things as if he is not going to be back until the end of this deployment. If by chance he is, it will be wonderful...but with everything surrounding the budget and sequestration, I'm doubting it happens.

  • Hope you all have amazeballs weekends and do fun things like eat mountains of pancakes and get yo' nails did. Hope to check ya next week with news that C-Lo is still in the womb. ;)

37 Weeks

February 27 - March 5

A little late this week, but we are officially out of Week 37! I am still feeling pretty good and hanging in there. Lots of BH contractions and pressure down low, but nothing really concerning or leading me to think that this baby is going to be here before next week. This is good given all the snow hitting the DC area right now...gotta make sure my mom can get a flight out! As far as things to do to finish getting ready, I am basically just trying to keep the house clean, laundry done, and everything in order. If Charlie decided that today was the day, I think I could handle it. Had my 38 week appointment yesterday and had no change, so still barely 1cm dialated, not really effaced. Babe is still super low...although it doesn't really look like it to me based on pictures, but I can feel her head way down there and the doctor can feel her when checking me. Gotta wrap up some work projects and then just ride out the next couple of weeks!

Survey says...

How far along?:
37 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  Well based on Monday and today, +1. Yesterday, when I usually do these posts, it was more than that. Let's stick with majority rules. Sitting right at +30 total.

Maternity clothes?: Still yes and no. Making things work. Popped a button on my cardi from yesterday (pic below), so my non maternity clothes are basically crying out to me to stop wearing them.

Sleep: Pretty good. Still get achy hips.

Best moment of the week:  Had a great weekend with Grace. Rocked her to sleep one night after she started crying around 9pm and tried to really embrace the time snuggling with my little girl and give her as much time as she needed.

Movement:  Yes and it's definately getting cramped in there.

Food Cravings: Got another Shamrock Shake. It was good. Also a McFlurry this week. Really gotta curb the fastfood desserts...sort of gross.

Gender: Girl

Belly Button: My poor, poor belly button. That is all.

Stretchmarks?: Haven't noticed any more since my semi-freak out at seeing one last week. Thank goodness.

What I miss: I miss hard workouts and running. Going to try to up my walking game for the rest of this ride. I've been pretty bad lately about getting in anything other than chasing Grace and the dogs around.

What I am looking forward to: Mom gets here in 1 week! Looking forward to my last solo weekend with my girl (hopefully) and to celebrate I'm going to dominate some pancakes drenched in syrup during our weekly brunch. Already excited about that.

Weekly Wisdom: Just trying to enjoy the time I have left both being pregnant and as a mommy of 1.

Milestones: Surpassed my 1st pregnancy's timeline. Happy to still have this girl cooking away.

Grace's space: Oh, Gracie-Lou. We battled another round of the sickies. Actually this post is late because we spent yesterday morning at the doctor and now have antibiotics, a steriod, and inhaler for Grace's ear infection, cough, and allergies. Homegirl needs to catch a break, especially if she is going to be allowed to visit me and the baby in the hospital. She seems on the mend today and is back in school, but man...it is the worst having a sick kiddo. She did leave the doctor singing, "I feel better, so much better nowwww!" (From Doc McStuffins)

37 weeks 2 days

Today puts Charlie at the same gestational age that Grace was when she was born. I am not so secretly thrilled that she is staying put for a little longer. Either way you look at it, 2.5 weeks is nothing, and I'm happy to have more time to love on my big girl for another weekend. With both of us feeling better and the weather looking nice, I'm hoping to have a great couple of days with just us doing our favorite things together.

Park? Sure thing.

Ice cream date? This preggo says 'duh'.

Weekly brunch at Moo Mart? Of course... and actually it's called Sunshine Breakfast, but G renamed it after a Mickey episode. We both call it that now.

I seriously hope things play out similarly to labor with G 2+ years ago.

In other pre-baby To Do's, we have Charlie's dresser/changing table being delivered tomorrow, and even though Grace is still in the room, I plan to get everything set up, organized, and out of the hallway...which has basically become a staging area for her room. Next week I have a couple appointments I'd like to get taken care of and then Miss C is officially invited to make her debut. ;)

Of course, if she'd like to wait until the follow week when my mom is scheduled to fly in, that would be cool too.

I can't believe that we are so close. I'm so excited to meet our second little love and see Grace assume her role as big sister. I mean, if she likes this baby as much as our dogs I think we'll be set:

Have a great weekend!!!
