Instead I took a half day Friday, got my Crossfit sesh out of the way around lunch time and spent a couple of hours to myself, running errands without the distraction of D and Grace in tow. It also happened to be "variety day" (ha) and sometimes you just need a beer and a large cheese steak sub to make everything better. ;)
Initially I felt some guilt for not using my time off to pick up Grace from daycare early, but turns out she had her best day yet and came home bubbly and happy and SO proud of artwork that she made during the day. A couple of hours was all I needed to get my mojo back and I'd like to think that everyone had a better weekend because of it.
There were multiple visits to the park:
A night out for dessert and bluegrass music with friends.
Several new recipes...to include my first attempt cooking with quinoa, an avocado and kale salad, and cranberry walnut almond flour cookies. Recipes to come. :)
What didn't occur?
Any exercising whatsoever. So now it's Monday, which is weigh-in day, and I can't help but feel a smidge guilty. (But just a smidge...ha.) I don't really feel much pressure to have a loss each week. Do I want to drop a couple pounds? Sure. But I'm really just looking to tone up and feel fit and confident come Summer and feel my best every day. For once there is no upcoming event to stress about and no rush to fit into something.
To keep myself on track during the weekends I signed up for a race next Sunday. It's just a little 5K (I opted out of the 10K...it's been awhile), but it guarantees I'll get some sort of workout in. I think I need to cut myself a little slack during the week so I don't get irritable and tired by the weekend.
Also, it will be Superbowl Sunday and I clearly plan on snacking.
Here's to a new week! Hope yours is off to a great start.
xo,
H

Maybe it's in the air?! Gal, good on ya for taking some time for you---I think all moms need it and you've had a lot on your plate in the last few months. Congrats on the upcoming mini-race----and you look great regardless so don't worry about that scale---pshhew! :)
