Pregnancy Brain — What It Is
Pregnancy-induced brain fog, a true (and truly frustrating) hallmark of pregnancy. You may forget appointments, what you just walked into the store for, where you left your purse, whether you turned off the stove — and maybe, your phone number. (via Whattoexpect.com)
I'll be the first to admit that I have always had "dumb blonde moments", but I think the frequency of these gaffs has definitely picked up since being pregnant...and contrary to what What to Expect says, ("Not to worry, your brain will plump back up a few months after delivery.") my brain has not "plumped back up".
Lies, I tell you.
I'm pretty sure prego brain has never left me. I have numerous examples of all the dumb things I forget and can't even count the number of times I have had to run back into the house to check the stove or straightening iron, but this most recent example takes the cake.
[Rewind to Tuesday morning]
It's time to take Grace to daycare and I'm running around like a crazy trying to corral her and help her put her 6 BFFs of the day (RaRa the Bear, Kitty, Minnie, Daisy, Goofy and Donald) into the diaper bag. We are headed towards the door...I have her shoes and blanket and sippy...we are golden- until I realize I can't find my keys. Anywhere. I sing songs and dance and act generally ridiculous to entertain her while I run around searching. Finally after about 10 minutes a light goes off in my head and we make our way to the door, outside, and to the car...where I find my keys...
in the ignition. From the previous evening. (Slaps forehead)
xo,

I do stuff still like that too, and only have pregnancy brain to blame. It has gotten better though. I am no longer trying to throw laundry in the trash, and I haven't left my keys in the door in awhile. Ha ha that's a plus right?
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious. I've forgotten to put my car in Park after shutting it off completely and letting my foot off the brake (and then obv realize what I've done)...
ReplyDeleteI do this all the time too!
DeleteLOL. I have put my cell phone in the freezer and didn't know where it was until Chris called me. I now have permanent "mommy brian:.
